A new dawn: MLK Day 2020

Only a few weeks ago, we awoke to the beginning of a new decade with hope, energy and determination. Yet, threads of darkness have already begun to weave themselves into the fabric of this dewy dawn. In the U.S., increasing global instability is adding further pressure to an all-encompassing sense of insecurity. At Intersections International, we are called to work where these dynamics lead to fractures in our common lithosphere, resulting in division and conflict among people and nations. As we honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we are reminded of what a life dedicated to service, unwaveringly committed to change and firmly rooted in faith can accomplish. Dr. King’s teachings serve as a foundation for our work at Intersections; his “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” in which he outlines the four necessary elements of any “nonviolent campaign,” is a core document for our ministry. May his example be a lighthouse to us all--guiding us through these challenging times toward reconciliation, justice and love.
